"It has been over 10 years since we founded a square dancing team. We have often given our shows and attended contests in Zhangxian and other places, winning lots of awards. We are proud of our achievements," said Liu Jinfang, head of a square dancing team in Sancha Town of Zhangxian County, Northwest China's Gansu Province.
It has become routine for Liu and her teammates to give a show at the cultural square at each dawn, showcasing a new image and lifestyle of rural women.
Sancha Town has made full use of the micro-homes for women to promote the building of all types of women's social organizations, expanding women's role in advancing rural revitalization, cultivating social civility in rural areas, promoting folk culture and fostering stronger family ties, values and traditions.
Cheng Yinhua is a member of both the square dancing team and women's volunteers team at Sancha Village in the town. She and her teammates often visit elderly people who live alone, help them clean houses, make delicious food and give them a haircut. The women also help villagers solve family disputes, and call on villagers to eliminate outmoded customs. Thanks to their concerted efforts, it has become a trend for local people to follow fine social conventions.
Right now, there are a growing number of women's organizations that have provided women with diverse platforms to play a proactive role in rural development.
Women's access to various organizations has enabled local families to further deepen their communication with each other and take part in public activities.
Xu Ming, secretary of the Party committee of Sancha Town, said that the town is committed to gathering and unleashing the strengths of rural women and encouraging them to play a pivotal role in promoting social civility and advancing rural revitalization.
